It Takes 2

2=1 in the crazy science of mental health.

1 person sees the illness. The other experiences it. It’s hard to do both at the same time. In other words, if you’re experiencing clogged serotonin synapses or other neural congestions, you probably won’t see your changing weather. You’ll see someone else’s.
Thus, with a buddy system, you can have sunny days most of the time. You look out for your buddy’s brain blockages and your buddy looks out for yours. Think of it like checking for ticks.

But you have to stay close. Don’t push your loved one away just because they’ve noticed some hidden storms on your radar screen. Let them see all of you, including what’s between the ears.
